G L E A S O N B A U E R (they/them) is an award-winning theatremaker with an abiding sense of mission as an educator. Known for devising, directing, and designing visually lush work that “clings to memory far into the future,” G L E A S O N excels at creating ensemble-based, physically derived content. Awarded the True West Award by the Denver Theatre Center, their work has been called “mesmerizing”, “haunting”, “both sacred and profane”, “viscerally felt”, and “ambitious.”

G L E A S O N is currently the Associate Artistic Director of square product theatre in Boulder, CO (tribal homeland of the Hinono'eiteen).

As an educator, G L E A S O N is dedicated to the creation of intentional spaces for transformative, collaborative, and artistic processes. A member of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers and Association of Movement Educators, G L E A S O N has spent over two decades developing and implementing curriculum, facilitating group process, and coaching individuals to embody the fullness of their humanity.

G L E A S O N ‘s pedagogical skill set has been built through years of iterating how best to facilitate experiences that allow individuals and groups to build the trust needed to stay in process as they explore the contours of uncertainty, expression, and change.

G L E A S O N received their BA in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University. A life-long learner, G L E A S O N is currently training with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators as a Consent Forward Artist. They also have a teaching certificate from Tectonic Theatre Project, a certificate in Embodied Social Justice from the Embody Lab, and are a certified mindfulness instructor with Mindful Schools.

G L E A S O N is also an alumnae of Director’s Lab West, an associate member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, and an Arts for LA: Arts Delegate.
